Analysis of 90210 - Season 2 E4 Trailer

The opening of this trailer is straight to the point, it opens with a long shot. In this long shot there is two people, one male, one female. The male is in the foreground facing away from the camera, his whole body in the shot. The female is in the background facing the camera her body is also all in the shot. The two are looking at each other, but are far apart from each other. This demonstrates the separation in between them, or the distance that they are suffering. This shot allows us to analyse their body language towards each other, also allowing us to realise that they are distanced from each other but also that they are like two magnets attracting each other. This is effective because we are instantly drawn into the connection between the two and this interests us because we like to see relationships whether they work out or not.
The mise en scene in this shot is used effectively to promote these two characters and their relationship to us in order to capture our attention. The costume is used to attract a wide audience, the male character is wearing tennis equipment which really show off his physique, this appeals to the female viewers and attracts them more towards the soap, but the male also has what appear to be smooth hairless legs, this will appeal to both sexes. The males will be given the idea of metrosexuality and the new era of 'mens rules', that they would not usually think about, and the females agree with this idea. The female is dressed quite casually but very fashionable, this can appeal to the male viewers but also to the female viewers as they will also be interested in the clothes they wear. The soap chooses costume purposely to keep the viewer glued to the trailer.
The use of music in this trailer is used effectively to attract the viewe
