Cinematic Inspiration- 'Goal'

This was a film I watched when I was a kid. Until now it is one of my top favourite films, whether other people enjoyed it or not, it became an inspiration to me to not give up hope. Looking back at this film now made my desire to make a story based on the this idea really bloom. I wanted to put forward my own life in this soap in order to make it more original and based in a more 'close to home' surrounding so that the audience have more of a connection with the characters in their locations.

Response to Stereotypical Teenage Soaps

This is the British teenage drama 'Skins'.
Wikipedia: Skins is a British teen drama that follows a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West England, through the two years of sixth form. The controversial plot line explores issues such as dysfunctional families, mental illness(including eating disorders), sexual orientation identity, substance abuse and death.
In this drama they depict the 'reality' of teenagers specifically in the sixth form years in Bristol. The use of alcoholic and drug substances is excessive. This suits the storyline and the mise en scene very well as the plot is about the abuse of these substances and the effects of this. It also has a lot to do with problems in life, this makes the drama very dramatic and almost always negative. This is always characteristic in British dramas and especially teenage dramas.


This is the American teen drama '90210'. 

Wikipedia: 90210 is a teen drama which revolves around several students at the fictional West Beverly Hills High, including new Beverly Hills residents Annie Wilson and Dixon Wilson. Their father, Harry Wilson, has returned from Kansas to his Beverly Hills childhood home with his family to care for his mother, former television and theater actress Tabitha Wilson, who has a drinking problem and clashes with his wife Debbie. Annie and Dixon struggle to adjust to their new lives while making friends and yet adhering to their parents' wishes.
In this drama they are showing students that live in and around the familiar zip code, or post code to us, in Beverly Hills.

A new soap based in London reflecting  along the life of Luís Miguel Torres,  Spanish teenager, and passionate footballer  who is ‘condemned’ to a boring life and a dead-end job, he is yet to shine in any aspect of his life. When out of the blue his life is thrown upside down spectacularly by the massive opportunity to shine. This opportunity comes in the form of Ferguson, the chairman of a top club in London. Ferguson gives Luís the chance to sign and this choice sends him and everyone connected to him into a drama-filled spin.

Location - Wilmcote House (My Own House)This location was chosen for the soap as the home of Fernando. This

Location- Car ShowRooms

For this location i will have to make a decision as to which one i will use, i have to choose between either the London Group showroom or Lamborghini London showroom. I have to use one of these locations as it forms part of the main characters lifestyle, being a footballer and buying a flashy car is essential in the production.

The London Group is in Park Royal, which is 20 minutes away from my house. In this showroom there are very flashy cars and motorbikes. They usually only have British sports cars on show, and sometimes a foreign sports car will arrive.                                                        

Lamborghini London takes a bit longer to get to, it takes about 40 minutes. But i think i would prefer to go there as Lamborghinis are so much more 'Flashier' than any other cars, this will add a bright yellow spark to my soap trailer.

Location- Westfield Shopping Center

I chose Westfield as a location as a representation of glamour and could reflect his side of wealth. Westfield is the perfect place to represent glamour and wealth as they are host to a whole variety of high end designer shops such as Hugo Boss and Dolce & Gabana. These are the type of shops a footballer has the money for and is sponsored by. Westfield also has another side to it which is less glamourous and 

Location- Paddington Recreational Ground

I will be using Paddingon Rec as a location. This is because the main character lives in Paddingon and the nearest pitch is in Paddington Rec, as he is obsessed with football before getting lucky and then becoming famous Rec will be like his second home. Most of the shots in the beginning will be shot here.

When it came to deciding the name of my soap there was a large list of possible choices. I surveyed a number of people in a questionnaire, and included a question about what name would be suitable for my soap. I gave them a handful of suggestions to choose from.
They were:

I also gave them the possibility to suggest a name themselves, this way if they had an idea that I hadn't thought of they could suggest it to me.

The name that was chosen the most in the questionnaire came up as Frisky. This came as good news to me as it was my personal favourite of all the names. The others were a bit cliché to me. I had originally planned to use the name, but then realised I should see what the 'public' thought. So I was glad to see that they agreed with me.

My Channel Ident

This is my Channel Ident. It serves as Identification for the channel my soap opera will be aired on. I chose the name for a specific reason; I believe that TV nowadays is too much. The TV shows and adverts take it too far and many are ‘over the top’ when it comes to producing TV. I would like to take TV nowadays and (on this channel) re-simplify things. So the Channel Ident and Name of the channel are both quite ironic. There will also be a variety of different Idents. Each Ident is suited to whatever ocasion or season and some have specific meaning and emphasis on happenings in the world.

Production Logo- 'One Man Productions'

For my production logo i wanted to be original. I kept the same company name and the original idea of last years logo. I did not want to start from scratch as i was quite fond of the old logo so I kept a similar structure and theme for the new one, just simply renovating it.

This logo represents me effectively. I'm a young man who's very independent, therefore 'one man'. The logo does not reflect the type of product i will be creating, as it reflects me whereas everyone else wants to connect the production logo with the actual production. I believe the logo should represent me rather than the things I do, because this could outdate me.

Initial Idea & Synopsis

Original Idea

A soap about a teenager who is bored of life and his life is going nowhere he is nobody until he becomes famous when he is spotted playing football and this soap will follow his life just before and then after becoming famous. It will also follow the lives of the people surrounding him. The soap will have Fernando as a main character but he will not always feature, the soap shows every characters side. I want to add comedy, action, drama and excitement to my soap. I want to show deeply the contrast between his life before and during fame and I want it to dodge the stereotypical British and American stereotypes.

Synopsis
